This week, we were told to remake "Hit me Baby" shot by shot using the best props we could find and locations in or around school. the first thing we had to do was choose who was going to do what and who was playing different characters. Everyone wanted Mike to play Britney, but he didn't really want to so in the end Loz said he would do it. We then had to choose who we thought would be good directors for the video and we chose James and Kirk. After that we were split into pairs and told to storyboard the video shot by shot. This mean drawing up each shot on a piece of paper to represent what was going on. Some of these had horrible results due to lack of drawing ability but it was pretty fun looking at them.We then had to decide who could bring in the different mise-en-scene we would need for the shoot. This was mainly school uniforms and a blonde wig, but it had to be done, we also had to figure out where we were going to shoot and how we would do it. When it came to the day of the shoot, i think it worked out quite well. While James seemed a bit confused at the start, sending me down to the gym, waiting for him to get there, just to be sent back to the room, waiting some more just to be told to go to a different room. When we got there though, i think it worked quite well. Hayden, as the cinematographer, helped explain where i needed to be for each shot and what i had to do, i didn't realise that's what he was meant to be doing
and got a bit annoyed but when he told me that it was his role i figured it was fine.We recorded the first bit in one of the classrooms in the G block, then when we finished we wandered over the the sports hall to film the rest of the sequence. This was wquite dull as the majority of what we were recording was simply a very similar dance routine, in very similar camera positions so we just had to do the same thing over and over again for no apparent purpose. We realised halfway through that we had a really high angle shot to do, and the tripod was only about 6 feet high, so we were trying to figure out what we could use to increase the angle, but nothing in the area was stable enough to support the camera safely, so i wandered down the corridor and came back with a bin that we used to get the extra height needed. After about an hour and a half of filming everyone was getting very hot and very bored, so we decided to finish up and have a break. We had most of it filmed and only had another dance shot to do.
When we finished recording, we all went back up to the classroom only to find nobody there. We waited around and sent people to find the teachers but failed miserably. After waiting some more one of them turned up and we started to put the footage onto one of the laptops.
We then had to sort the footage into order and remove the unnecessary bits. The track we were given didn't have the start to the video we needed, so i downloaded the official video from YouTube and cut the audio from it. I also used the video to get timing for the cuts and lengths of each thing.
